Minister of Information and Communications Dauren Abayev attended ITU Telecom-2018 World

In the period September 10 to 13 in Durban city, South Africa, the World Forum of International Telecommunication Union, ITU Telecom-2018 World is being held. Kazakhstan is represented at the event by the head of Ministry of Information and Communications Dauren Abayev.

At the Forum, the Ministerial Round Table was held where the issues were discussed such as governments’ creating the conditions to smart digital technologies development; mitigating the risks of the new digital world; and financing the digital technology development.

In his report, Dauren Abayev mentioned the importance of ICT development and the contribution thereof into the global economy growth and life quality improvement. In telling about successes and challenges facing our country, Minister emphasized the essential role of national Digital Kazakhstan program which would allow our moving to the new orbit in developing the ICT industry.

The agency head assured that, in collaboration with International Telecommunication Union, Kazakhstan is willing to implement the 5th generation telecommunication and to more widely use the non-geostationary satellites for provision of broadband Internet.

At the Forum, Minister also had meetings with: ITU Secretary-General Houlin Zhao, ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau Director Brahima Sanou, Saudi Arabian Communications & IT Commission Abdulaziz bin Salem al Ruais, and Azerbaijani Vice Minister of Transport, Communication and High Technologies Elmir Tofig-oglu Velizade.

ITU Telecom-2018 World is a lead international platform hosting the representatives from governments and telecom industry for high-level debate on creating the global ICT infrastructure.
